For new flute owners:
Congratulations on owning your first flute!
Here are some basic instructions for placing the fetish on top of the flute.
You will need to do a little experimenting with
placing the fetish. That is, aligning it so that the best sound is heard. Then tieing it securely to the flute.
Some flute physics first....
The fetish also called a "bird", the bird sits over the very first hole (which is hidden by the bird in the above picture). The air is forced out of this first hole.
As the air is blown out of the first hole it is met by the bird.
The purpose of the bird is to channel the air toward the sound hole where the sound is made.
The bird has a grove in the base so that it can direct the air from the first hole to the sound hole.
Once the air passes over the air splitting edge of the sound hole, a sound is heard (music).
In summary:
1.Tie the bird securely to the flute. Be sure to place the edge of the bird to the edge of the sound hole.
2. Make minor adjustments until the best sound is heard.
3. Enjoy playing your new flute!!
